The Sheil Catholic Center ministers to more than just students. In addition to the undergraduates and graduate students on Northwestern University’s campuses, our dynamic community also welcomes our “associates” — the adults, alumni and faculty who live within the Northwestern and surrounding areas.
Together, Sheil’s faith community offers a welcome place for worship, celebration of sacraments and pastoral care. We promote education and spiritual growth for all members of Sheil, and provide opportunities for service, leadership and interaction among our different generations.
Opportunities for associate involvement include many vibrant ministries and activities. All service opportunities listed on this site, many of the Christ the Teacher seminars and all liturgical ministries are open to associate participation.
Hospitality is at the core of the Sheil Catholic Center. The Center’s open doors and welcoming hearts create an environment where fellowship thrives. Our associate members play an important role in helping the Sheil staff provide that warm welcome to students as well as fellow associates. Hospitality and Community Life Volunteers help with planning, preparing, and executing the numerous social events that we hold throughout the year; including Coffee & Doughnut Sundays – Student BBQs – Sheil’s Annual End of the Year Party – Receptions following special liturgies – Fish Frydays during Lent – and many more. Please contact Teresa Corcoran, Director of Operations at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more about hospitality at Sheil.
Associates are always welcome to contact us with fundraising ideas to help support the Sheil mission. Mardi Gras, our annual fundraising gala is the major event of the year. Whether you choose to be on the committee, donate auction items, help with marketing or simply attend the party, being involved is a great way to get to know students and fellow community members.
