Graduate Students & Young Adults GYA

The group is open to all graduate students and young adults, married or single, from the Evanston community. Members come from different places on their spiritual journey. And we welcome all of you wherever you are on yours. We are built around social, spiritual, service, and educational initiatives. We gather regularly for a variety of events built on these cornerstones.GYA is focused on developing a community within Sheil by providing multiple venues to meet, mingle, and grow together.

6-Week with the Bible (Matthew 1-2/Luke 1-2) at Sheil. Join us on Wednesdays at 7pm beginning in January 2018.

The purpose of this group is to help each other grow in faith.  Note what the group is not. It’s not a Bible study. It’s not a support group. It’s not simply a social get-together. It has elements of study, support, and fun, but the deeper reason for these meetings is to help each other find God in your lives.  This will happen if members of the group have a meaningful, comfortable experience of community, have a personal encounter with the Word of God in Scripture; reflect on Scripture and ask what it means for their lives; and share these reflections with others and listen to their reflections. After the session we go out for drinks at the Celtic Knot. Contact Andrew Stawarz at and Mary Deeley at if you are interested in participating, and we will provide you with a copy of the booklet.
GYA members will be cooking and serving the residents at Hilda’s Place on these days February 11 | March 11 | April 15 | May 6 | June 10
