Angela Stramaglia Director of Music & Liturgy

Angela received her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. She officially became Director of Music at the Sheil Center in 1995 and expanded her title to that of Director of Music & Liturgy in 2000. Angela studied liturgy through the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Office for Divine Worship and is certified through its Parish Liturgy Program as Liturgist in the Diocese.

Angela is an active member of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM) having served on regional and national convention planning and core committees, as well as a convention liturgist for the National NPM Convention – Chicago in 2009.  She is currently serving her 2nd term on the NPM Council as the Chair of the Campus Ministry Section.

For the Catholic Campus Ministry Association (CCMA) she has represented Sheil as the Coordinator of Music & Liturgy at 2 National Conventions.  She has presented workshops on the topic of music ministry in a campus setting not only at CCMA and NPM, but also at Notre Dame’s Institute for Young Adult Ministry.

An article entitled Sharing the Treasure with the Future Church, originally published in the journal AIM in the Fall of 2009, was later included that same year as a chapter in World Library Publications, The Role of Music in Worship: Sing to the Lord in Pastoral Practice
