We welcome you and your student to the Sheil Catholic Center at Northwestern University!
College is full of new experiences — some exciting, some difficult. Knowing that your student has a supportive faith community can ease both your mind and your student’s transition through college.
First Night -You and your student are invited to join us for First Night, a welcome event every September for incoming students and their families to get to know the Catholic community at Northwestern University. You can see images from this year's First Night here.
Family Weekend - All families are invited to join us for Mass during Northwestern's Family Weekend on Sunday, October 22nd at 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., or 5:00 p.m.
Sheil Catholic Center is the Catholic Campus Ministry on both Northwestern University’s Evanston and Chicago Campuses. Our dynamic community includes undergraduates, graduate students and “associates” — alumni, faculty, staff, and other local Catholics who support our mission as a campus ministry center.
Sheil often acts as a “home away from home” for students. We offer a warm, welcoming environment for students, providing them plenty of opportunities to make personal and spiritual connections to God and the larger Catholic community.
We strive to:
- Help clarify values in a time of exploration
- Build a sense of Catholic identity and understanding through education, reflection and discussion
- Form leaders in the world and for the Church through service and empowerment
- Do all of this in the context of faith, through a vibrant spiritual center
We truly look forward to getting to know both you and your student throughout their years at Northwestern University! We are here for you. Should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us here. Our hearts are always open to you as well as your student.
