Safe Environment
Sheil Catholic Center staff are committed to fostering a safe environment to protect all God’s children. Therefore, all employees who minister to children and vulnerable adults are required to complete a background check and attend the Protecting God’s Children training.
Reporting
Anyone with knowledge about abuse that has taken place by a priest, deacon, seminarian, religious, lay employee, or volunteer of the Archdiocese of Chicago should report that abuse to the police first, followed by alerting the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Office of Protection of Children and Youth (OPCY).
If you have experienced abuse by a priest, deacon, seminarian, religious, lay employee, or volunteer of the Archdiocese of Chicago, you may wish to contact the Office of Assistance Ministry. This office provides pastoral care, support, and resources to victims/survivors of sexual abuse and their loved ones.
