Mission Trips
Sheil Catholic Center Mission Trips are a great opportunity to put your faith into action by serving people around the world. It is also a chance to learn about another culture; grow in your personal faith journey; understand and integrate the principles of Catholic Social Teaching; and to share what you have learned with the Sheil community.
Student Mission Trip | March 22-28, 2026 (Spring Break)
Join us for a mission trip over spring break to Jerusalem Farm in Kansas City, MO. Jerusalem Farm is an intentional Catholic community that seeks to live Catholic Social Teaching through care for neighbors and creation. Join us for a hands-on week to learn more about Catholic Social Teaching and put it into action through work on a variety of projects, rooted in the values of prayer, community, and simplicity. The trip costs $500 for non-Catholic Scholars and $700 for Catholic Scholars. This covers transportation, lodging, and food. Scholarships are available. Campus ministers accompany the student group. The deadline to apply is January 29th. If you have any questions, contact Campus Minister, Tim Higgins, via email here or call 847.328.4648.
Associate Mississippi Mission Trip | May 2026
Join us for a trip to West Tallahatchie, Mississippi. Meet other Sheil associates, learn basic home construction, and provide meaningful service to a community in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. Space is limited. The cost is $375 per person, $150 of that goes to Habitat for Humanity. While our primary objective is to build homes, we also immerse ourselves in building relationships in the neighborhood. Check out these photos from our trip in 2023. For more information or to support the Associates' Service Trip, please contact Mike Perry via email here or phone 312.730.4115 or contact Nicole Perry via email here or phone 312.375.8227.
Student Tucson Mission Trip | December 2026 (Winter Break)
Join us for a mission trip to Tucson, Arizona and the Tohono O’odham Nation. This Nation is made up of various districts that are united as one nation, and all of them share the name Tohono O’odham, which means “Desert People.” This Nation has roots stretching from Arizona through the Sonoran desert in Mexico. Through relationships developed with the Tohono O'odham Nation and collaborative service with Catholic organizations reaching out to migrants in Mexico and those seeking asylum in Tucson, this mission trip will surely widen your understanding of the Church, bring you face-to-face with the realities of the border, and offer an experience of what it means to "welcome the stranger." The trip costs $1,000 for Catholic Scholars and $800 for non-Catholic Scholars. This covers airfare, transportation, lodging, and food. Scholarships are available for those who qualify. Campus ministers accompany the student group. To view photos from the 2025 trip, click here. To hear directly from students who have been on the trip, consider reading one of the following reflections from: Ewelina, Armando, or Christian.
