Giving Tree

Thanks to everyone for your generosity this year! Stay tuned for next year's Giving Tree in 2024!

Stop by to pick up a tag from the giving tree that will be based in the commons at Sheil Catholic Center, Evanston between November 5th and 19th...or simply look at the list of giving tree items below to select an item to donate. You are also welcome to donate gift cards in $20 denominations. We have been asked by the organizations with whom we work that the gift cards be to places such as Target, Valli Foods, and Food4Less.

Each giving tree tag has an item that has been requested by one of the organizations that Sheil supports during the holidays (Evanston neighbors in need, Connections for the Homeless, Precious Blood Ministries, and children that our students encounter on the Arizona mission trip each year at the border). The giving tree tags include:

  • Food Items:  Non-perishable food items such as peanut butter, spaghetti, beans, etc.
  • Adult Items: Precious Blood Ministries has requested bath products for young adult women and black hoodies for young adult men. Connections for the Homeless has requested adult underwear, hats, and gloves.
  • Children Items: For the children at the border, please bring small teddy bears or warm children's coats, hats, and gloves.

Drop Off Items

Please drop off all items by November 19th so that we can be sure they get to the people in need by the holidays.

  • Sheil Catholic Center, Evanston: Please donate all items to Sheil Catholic Center's Evanston campus between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or before or after Mass on Sundays. Please give them to campus minister Tim Higgins or drop them off in the front office.
  • Sheil Catholic Center, Chicago: Please donate all items to the temporary location of Sheil Catholic Center's Chicago campus (Room 155, "Parrillo Courtroom," in the Law School's Rubloff Building).  Please only bring items when the campus ministry team is there on Wednesdays between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Father Afield: If you are not local or unable to bring your items to Sheil, but would like to donate gift cards, please mail them to Sheil Catholic Center, c/o Tim Higgins, 2110 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL 60201.
