Join other Sheil Catholic community members by supporting fellow students and local families who may need some extra support this holiday season.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

There are two ways to help this year:

  • Food Items for Purple Pantry: You are invited to purchase specific food items for the Purple Pantry, our food assistance program for Northwestern students. We are in need of the following items to help students: pasta sauce in jars, 1-pound bags of white or brown rice, and Tasty Bite meals that come in pre-packaged packets. Please bring your gift of food to Sheil Catholic Center's Evanston campus between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or on Sunday before Mass.
  • Gift Cards: We invite you to purchase physical gift cards in $20 denominations for the Thanksgiving Food Drive. The organizations with which we work have asked that the Thanksgiving gift cards be purchased for Jewel or Valli Produce. These cards will be given to Evanston families in need, as well as families on Chicago's south side through Precious Blood Ministries. Please bring any gift cards to Sheil Catholic Center's Evanston campus between 9am - 5pm, Monday through Friday, or give them to Tim Higgins before or after Mass on Sundays. You may also place them in our secure mailbox outside the north side doors. If you are not local or unable to bring them to Sheil, please mail them to Sheil Catholic Center, c/o Tim Higgins, 2110 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL 60201.

Christmas Mitten Tree

There are two ways to help this year:

  • Self-Care Items for Purple Pantry and Hilda's Place: You are invited to take part in the Christmas Mitten Tree tradition. A mitten tree will be placed in Sheil's Evanston campus on November 21st. You are invited to pick up a mitten tag from the tree that will have a specific need listed on the back. Please return your mitten tag with the purchased item to Sheil by December 5th.
  • Gift Cards: We invite you to purchase physical gift cards in $20 denominations for Christmas care packages. The organizations with which we work have asked that Christmas gift cards be purchased for Target. These cards will be given to Evanston families in need, as well as families on Chicago's south side through Precious Blood Ministries. Please bring any gift cards to Sheil Catholic Center between 9am - 5pm, Monday through Friday, or give them to Tim Higgins before or after Mass on Sundays. You may also place them in our secure mailbox outside the north side doors. If you are not local or unable to bring them to Sheil, please mail them to Sheil Catholic Center, c/o Tim Higgins, 2110 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL 60201.
