Sheil Catholic Center

The Sheil Catholic Center ministers to more than just students. In addition to the undergraduates and graduate students on Northwestern University’s campuses, our dynamic community also welcomes our “Associates” — those who participate in and support our mission and ministry with students.

Opportunities for Associate involvement include many vibrant ministries and activities. We look forward to getting to know you!

Worship and Prayer

Associates are invited to participate in all liturgies and share their gifts as part of Sheil's liturgical ministries, such as Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, and more. Learn more on our Liturgical Ministries page.

Faith Formation

All Associates are invited to grow in their faith through our faith formation programs. Visit our Christ the Teacher Institute page and small groups page to learn more about upcoming seminars, lectures, and Bible studies.

Service and Justice

Associates are an active part of Sheil's service and justice ministries. We invite you to look under the "Serve" tab on our website to see the multiple active ministries. These include Sunday meal preparation at Hilda's Place, a local shelter; the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive and Mitten Tree; or the Associates mission trip.

Fundraising & Mardi Gras

Associates are always welcome to contact us with fundraising ideas to help support the Sheil mission. Mardi Gras, our annual fundraising event, is the major event of the year. Whether you choose to be on the committee, donate auction items, help with marketing or simply attend the party, being involved is a great way to get to know students and fellow community members.

Hospitality & Community Life

Hospitality is at the core of the Sheil Catholic Center. The Center’s open doors and welcoming hearts create an environment where fellowship thrives. Our associate members play an important role in helping the Sheil staff provide that warm welcome to students as well as fellow associates. Associates help with planning, preparing, and executing the numerous community events that we hold throughout the year; including Coffee & Donut Sundays, Cheap Lunch, Fish Frydays during Lent, and many more. Visit the hospitality page to learn more.
