Vocations
Sheil Catholic Center is here to help you learn discernment practices as you make decisions about classes, relationships, jobs, and your future.
Vocation of Student Seminar
6 Thursdays, starting January 29 from 6:15-7:45 p.m. (January 29, February 5, 12, 19, 26, March 5) in the Christ the Teacher classroom at Sheil's Evanston campus (Elective Seminar, Open to All Students)
What does it mean to be a Catholic student at a secular university? How do our relationships, our studies, our leisure change if we think about student life as a call from God? How can we incorporate the Catholic vision of sacramentality into everything we do at Northwestern University? This seminar will explore these questions as we consider the vocation of student.
Facilitator: Sister Belinda Monahan, OSB, Ph.D., Director of Transformative Learning
Praying with the Founders
Wednesday, February 25th, 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Cafe at Sheil's Evanston campus (Open to All Students)
Lex orandi, Lex credendi. The way we pray shapes how we understand and live out our relationship with God. So many religious orders, based on the charisms of the founders, have characteristic styles of prayer. This event will gather men and women from various religious orders to explore how their founders taught them to pray and how that prayer shapes their lives. Students will get a glimpse into the many ways religious sisters, brothers, and priests live out their lives as well as some new ideas about how to pray. Sign-ups are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome! Snacks provided!
