Interested in Catholicism?/OCIA

Are you interested in becoming Catholic or deepening your spiritual journey with the sacraments? We are excited to walk with you on the journey.
Christian Initiation
Christian Initiation, also known as The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults, offers the opportunity to learn more about the Catholic faith and discuss your spiritual questions. As part of a small group, you will be able to explore the Catholic tradition through scripture, sacraments, Church teaching, and social outreach in the context of the vibrant Catholic faith community of the Sheil Catholic Center at Northwestern University.
Christian Initiation is designed for adults who are not baptized, those who are baptized in another Christian faith, and those who were baptized Catholic but with no further religious training or sacraments such as Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation. We look forward to walking with you on your spiritual journey!
For information about the program or if you are interested in being a companion for someone who is becoming Catholic, please contact Sister Belinda Monahan, OSB.
Adult Confirmation
If you are an adult who would like to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and already experienced Baptism, First Reconciliation, and First Communion, this small group is for you! Sheil Catholic Center offers an adult confirmation class every spring. This year, the adult confirmation class will take place over four Mondays, starting April 17th (April 17,24, May 1, 8), from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The Sacrament of Confirmation will take place at Sheil Catholic Center on May 21st at 5 p.m. Learn more about the course in the syllabus here.
